South Dakota State Capitol Building
Take a guided or self-guided tour of the grand South Dakota State Capitol building. Capitol Lake and grounds showcase the historic war momuments and memorials. Stroll around capitol lake or on the nearby Trail of Governors: a series of bronze statues of the governors of South Dakota.The Capitol Building is located close by Hyde Stadium.
GUIDED TOURS
Based upon the availability of volunteer tour guides, Capitol Building tours are provided daily, including weekends and must be scheduled at least 48 hours (Business days) in advance. Please call 605-773-3688 to schedule your tour of the Capitol.
Tours take approximately one hour. Tours will begin at the North Entrance of the State Capitol unless other arrangements are requested when scheduling tours.
Buses are asked to park on Broadway Avenue, directly North of the Capitol, or on Nicollet Avenue, directly West of the Capitol, after dropping off their passengers.
SELF-GUIDED TOUR BOOKS
Self-Guided Tour and Activity booklets are available for those visitors who wish to tour the Capitol on their own. The booklets are located near the entrance to the Annex inside the North entrance to the Capitol, and on Second Floor in the Rotunda, near the front doors.
Accessibility
Wheelchairs are available inside the Limited Mobility entrance on the west side of the Capitol. Please return wheelchairs to their proper location after use. Info for Visitors with Disabilities.Hours of Operation
