Hosted annually by Highmore Area Council of the Arts and the Highmore Civic and Commerce, the Sunflower Festival provides an opportunity to see and learn about the production of the bright yellow sunflower blooms in Central South Dakota when they're at their most beautiful state.

The festival features art and craft vendors, hayrides, local talent and live music, as well as the opportunity for guided and self guided visits to sunflower fields in the rural area around Highmore.

The festival in the park will be held on August 16, the event will run from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Highmore's South Park. In case of inclement weather, the event could be moved to Hyde County Memorial Auditorium
