Recreation and Exploration

It doesn't get any better than this. The entire Missouri River features hundreds of miles of prime hunting and fishing, four large lakes and all the biking, hiking, camping, sight-seeing and exploring you could want.

Some of the highlights include South Dakota State Parks along the river.
The Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area is located just a few miles outside of Yankton and is the most visited outdoor recreation area in the eastern half of South Dakota. It has hundreds of sites along with a number of rental cabins at five different campgrounds.

Springfield State Recreation Area is between Yankton and Fort Randall, just below the 39 mile reach of the Missouri National Recreational River.

North Point Recreation Area is just above Fort Randall Dam and features recreation along the river, bike trails, hiking trails, abundant fishing and one of the largest eagle nesting areas in the nation.

Randall Creek Recreation Area is right along the banks of the Missouri River just downstream from Fort Randall Dam

Each year, hunters from around the world flock here for renowned pheasant, grouse, goose, duck and deer hunting. Be sure to check out the recent local hunting and fishing reports before your trip. The outdoors just doesn't get any greater than it does along the River.
